Monsoon Touch Football Club

1. Selection Emails
Just a reminder that receiving the selection email notification is a not a guarantee of a game in the weekend. With large squads there will be ppl who will miss out on games who are available to play.

Therefore it is important that you indicate your availability early, by Thursday at the latest. This will give me time to call up players to replace those who are unavailable.

A non response by Thursday, and I will assume you are UNAVAILABLE and ask someone else to step up. If you then decide to turn up and the team is full you WILL NOT PLAY!!!

It is not only UNFAIR but DISRESPECTFUL to your teammates to leave them wondering if they have numbers to play a game when all its takes is 30seconds of your time to read an email and click a mouse.

2. Monsoon Registrations
All NEW players are required to register on the Monsoon website. If you do not register on the site then you will NOT receive the Selection notification email. If a full team has been selected for the day and you decide to turn up priority will go to those who bothered to reply not matter who you are. Its that’s simple. If you have problems registering on the website please let me know.

3. Weekend Results (Saturday 28 August)
The Opening games kicked off last weekend and its was great to see the big turnout for another season of Touch Football.

Monsoon Demons v Bucks IPA (A/B Grade)
The Monsoon Demons were made to work hard in the opening half and it took 20mins for the Demons to work out the rust in their game. Under new captain Tony Koh, the Demons' experience and ability shone through and they ran away winners 10-3 to finish strongly over a fading Bucks team.

Monsoon Avengers v Bro Town (C/D Grade)
A tough first game for the Avengers against the 2010 STL B Grade champions.
The team a mixture of old and new players led by Craig Norwood did well hang in there and go toe to toe against Bro Town but the opposition's experience won out in the end, with the Avengers going down 5-8. It was a promising start for the team and something to definitely build on after a tough and challenging STL.

4. Player Fees
Fees are due. TFS fees have increased for this season so its important you pay your subscriptions!!!
We still have players from last season who have not paid, don't make me go Naming and Shaming, you know who you are!!!
The best way is through internet banking or if you prefer to pay cash, you can pass the money onto me.
Remember No Pay, No PLAY!!!

5. Monsoon Lions
Due to UWC pulling out of the C/D Grade and a number of players wishing to turning out for the most successful touch football club in Singapore, we have been able to include a 3rd WTL team this season. As the club looks to grow and develop, the objective of this team will be to bring new players to the sport of Touch and the Monsoon setup.

I will see what impact this has on the draw and get back to the respective teams. Additionally there will be a re-organization of the Avengers team.

6. Midweek Training
There is mid week running and sprint training for those looking to improve their fitness
Where: the fields next to Parkview Sq (Bugis)
When: Wednesday nights from 7.30pm to 8.30pm
Bring water and shoes/boots

Registration Fee
All participating teams are required to pay the following registration fee:
• HK$ 3,000.00 per team with a maximum of 12 players to be registered per team

Registration includes
• Participation in the Championship
• Logistical support throughout the day
• Water throughout the competition
• Tournament T-Shirt (additional T-Shirts will be available for purchase)
• Presentation Ceremony & Closing Reception (which includes food and beverage)

Referee
• The tournament organisers will be running the refereeing (in conjunction with FIT).

What can be generally expected

Tournament Rules
The Tournament will be played in accordance to FIT Rules.

First of all, a very big thank you to those who turned up on Saturday morning to help out in the clinic. We had a total of 70 registrations, out of which 48 turned up. Not too bad, considering that we had only 9 at the beginning of the week. Many thanks to those who managed to get the numbers: Kristy, Karen and Michelle and those of you who convinced your friends to come.

The participants looked like they enjoyed themselves a lot. Not only did they learn how to play touch, they had a really good workout in the heat. (My sis is complaining that her whole body is too sore and hurts to even sit or lie down!) Some of them have indicated their interest to play touch on a more regular basis and that means we've done a good job! Yay!!!

On behalf of the club, I'ld like to thank:

Has and Miles for the planning, organnising and ensuring that everything ran well that day, for sending out emails to the other members;

Has for handling the printing of the t-shirts, packing of the goodie bags the day before and logistics;

Lay and Nicole for volunteering to be in the committee even when they're not playing this season and for looking for sponsors;

Dan, Cliff, Has, Al, Ro, Karen and Chris Wall for conducting the sessions and making sure that everyone's having fun;

Kristy, Siti, Edna, Sze Ying, Ying Wen, Steve, Nick, Tony, and Edwin for guiding the participants in their matches, refereeing the games and filling in for injured players;

AK, Chris Mead, Dave and John for manning the registration booth with their smiles and delivering/selling the drinks;

Kehui for being the photographer for the day and helping with logistics;

Kristy for helping to pack the goodie bags the day before and lugging all the equipment from school;

Suzi for designing the event poster and t-shirt;

and finally, Mo and Shena for being there to help even when they're sick.

Monsoon Touch will be hosting a touch clinic at the same time as having a social day for our members on the 30th January 2010 at Anchorvale Community Club, SengKang. Bring friends, family and Partners to have a fun day out learning to play Touch.
